On May 4, 2016 NAWL appeared before the Special Committee on pay equity, urging the government to repeal the Public Sector Equitable Compensation Act and take immediate steps to draft proactive and comprehensive federal pay equity legislation.

Feminist Law Reform 101

With the support of a generous donation from Shirley Greenberg, the NAWL Charitable Trust for Research and Education has developed an open access law reform course. The course’s purpose is to train law students, civil society and social justice advocates more broadly in the skills necessary to advance equality rights. It is also offered as a template and resource for law professors designing courses on feminist law reform.

With the support of a generous donation from Shirley Greenberg, Professor Martha Jackman, member of the NAWL Steering Committee, and Julie Shugarman, NAWL Consultant, created and offered an advanced seminar on feminist law reform at the Faculty of Law of the University of Ottawa during the 2014 Winter Term. During the course, students heard from several expert guest speakers who presented various topics relating to feminist law reform and shared their experience.
